Garden Huckleberry
50 seeds per packet approx.
Start your seeds indoors at the same time as your tomatoes. Transplant out Mid-may to June. The plants set fruit early. But keep them on the plant until after the first frost and they have turned black. Immature berries are slightly toxic. Great in pies and jams but need help like rhubard. They need another fruit to sweeten them. Consume cooked. These grow to be about two feet tall.
Huckleberries prefer; a rich soil, pH of 4.3-5.2 and partial shade. Two inches of compost should be worked into the soil prior to transplanting. When transplanting, space plants 14” apart in rows 30” apart.
